JONAH

(Sung to the tune of "Pop Goes the Weasel")

Though he was a prophet of God
He would not go to Nineveh
He tried to sail away from the Lord
SPLASH!
Down went Jonah (pause 2 beats)
 

He wanted God to punish them all
And not be kind and gracious
Jonah disobeyed the Lord
SPLASH!
Down went Jonah
 

The ship was saved, the sea was calm
But he was all alone-a
Soon there came a friend - for him
GULP!
Down went Jonah
 

God would send a warning with him
To bring them to repentance
Jonah disobeyed the Lord
GULP!
Down went Jonah
 

He traveled on for three long days
But now the trip was over
The whale - spit him on - the beach
YUCK!
Out went Jonah
 

He wanted God to punish them all
And not be kind and gracious
Jonah disobeyed the Lord
YUCK!
Out went Jonah

We also have a message to give
Of Jesus and His love -
Believe in Him and you - will be
SAVED!
By His blood -
 

 He gives us strength. He's al - ways near
We're never left alone-a
Don't turn back like Jonah did  (pause 2 beats)

GULP!
Down went Jonah
