Introduction

We studied in our previous lessons that the person who receives the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour has:

We now want to study the place and reason for the believer’s personal assurance of salvation.

Assurance is the complete or entire confidence and certainty that all is right in the believer’s relationship to the living God.

Believer’s view of God and His Word. God’s view of the believer.

The basis or foundation for Assurance

1. The Word of God – God says so

I believe or put my trust in
What God has said.

I know I am saved right now because I believe God’s promises that tell me: "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be ____________." Romans 10:13

"...that whosoever beileveth in Him (Jesus) should not perish, but have everlasting __________." John 3:16

Jesus said "And I give unto them ____________ life and they shall __________ perish, neither shall _________________ pluck them out of my hand." John 10:28

Jesus said "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that cometh to me I will in no wise (certainly not) ____________________." John 6:37

"And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me (Jesus) I should lose ____________." John 6:39

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may ___________ that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God." I John 5:13

God’s Word gives us assurance because the witness of God is greater than people. 1 John 5:9

We believe what people have told us in books. What two or three friends might tell you.

Shouldn’t we believe what God has said? ( yes or no)

If we don’t believe God we make or. call God a _______________
1 John 5:10

Can God lie? ( yes or no) Titus1:2; Heb.6:l8.

A person’s word may be true but God’s Word is always true.

A person can lie but God never tells a lie.

When does God say we receive eternal life? _______________________________. "Whosoever ____________ that Jesus

is the Christ is born of God." 1 John 5:1 "He that hath the Son hath _______________. 1 John 5:12 "Beloved, __________ are we the children of God" 1 John 3:2

A boy or girl begins physical life when they are _________________. A boy or girl begins eternal life when they __________________________.

To believe about something or someone is not the same as believing in someone or something.

Let us take a look at Sally ---

Sally has been very sick. The Doctor came to see Sally and gave her some medicine. He told her to take the medicine and she would get well. Sally believes the medicine will make her well. Does that make Sally well? _____________. What must she do before she will get well? ____________________________________________________

God says that everybody has been sick with sin. In John 1:12 God says to ...

Image73.gif (7879 bytes)

the Lord Jesus, or in other words, ask Him to come into your life. Like the medicine made Sally well after she took it, so when we receive the Lord Jesus into our lives He makes us well.

1. _________________  2. ___________________  3. ______________________ 4. _________________ 5.  ______________ 6. ____________ 7. _____________ 8. _____________. So you are sure you are saved. = Assurance

  1. 10th word in 1 Corinthians 1:16
  2. 2nd word in 1 Peter 2:22
  3. 8th word in Acts 16:30
  4. 4th word in Genesis 1:1
  5. 4th word in John 16:24
  6. 6th word in 2 Corinthians 12:1
  7. 12th word in John 1:12
  8. 9th word in Hebrews 13 :21

Everyone must believe in Him and receive Him.

This is SAVING BELIEF.

The world and the Devil give false assurance. Jer.14:13; 14,15.

Image74.gif (6205 bytes)

There is no God.
Everybody is going to heaven.
There is no hell.
Do the best you can and everything
will be fine.

If you feel good and everything is good in school, home, friends, then all must be okay. etc. etc.

2. The Son of God

God pronounces or declares that the believer in righteous "in Christ". Justifies the believing sinners.

God is righteous
God must judge the world in righteousness. Psalm 9:8.
God must judge on the basis of the facts.

NOTE: God’s way of justice for judging the people. Deut.25:1 "then they shall justify the _______________ and condemn (or declare to be guilty) the ______________."

SO WE HAVE THIS PICTURE OF JUSTICE.

Image75.gif (16032 bytes)

1. GOD THE RIGHTOUS JUDGE SAW MY PROBLEM

Image77.gif (24763 bytes)

Image78.gif (49543 bytes)

The verdict, the decision: GUILTY!! Rom.3:23

The sentence: DEATH – ETERNAL SEPERTION FROM GOD!! ROM.6:23a

What Could God Do For Me?

God the Righteous Judge Substituted in my place

Image79.gif (19396 bytes)

His death "pays in full the penalty of human sin". God the Father is fully satisfied with the death of His Son as He took my place. God the Father can JUSTIFY me a guilty, Hell-bound sinner.

JUSTIFICATION means:

God sets the believer free from the penalty and guilt and guilt of sin.

God declares that the believing sinner is RIGHTEOUS BEFORE GOD.

Write the sentence below.

_____________ __________________ _______________ ___________________

________________ ________________ __________________ _______________

_______________.

2 Cor.5:21 God treats as sin the Lord Jesus Christ "who knew no sin," in order that the believer "might become the righteousness of God in Him (Jesus)."

Image81.gif (16158 bytes)

God the Righteous Judge Secured My Position

image82.gif (27721 bytes)

GOD’S VERDICT, DECISION: NOT GUILTY, SET FREE FROM BLAME,THE PENALTY OF HIS OR HER SIN. Acts 13:38,39.

THE SENTENCE: LIFE, ETERNAL LIFE WITH GOD. John 6:40,47,51,58,63; Rom.8:35-39.

How am I Justified?

NOT by keeping the Law. Rom.3:20,28 Gal. 2:16;3:11.

NOT by Good Works. Rom.4:1-8; Eph.2:8,9; Titus 3:5,6.

BUT because of GOD’S GRACE - Rom.3:24,26.

"Being justified __________ by His grace..." Titus 3:7. God was moved in His love to grant the believer (me?) His unmerited and undeserved favor because of(my) PERSONAL FAITH in taking God at HIS WORD. Rom.3:22,26,28 4:3,22-25; Gal. 2:16; 3:6,11.

I KNOW I am saved RIGHT NOW because GOD says I am JUSTIFIED or DECLARED TO BE RIGHTEOUS "IN CHRIST".

2 Timothy 2:19 tells Christians to Depart From __________________________.

Sally and Sam have been saving their allowance that theirhas been giving them each week. They wanted to buy somethat cost 5that they had seen in adowntown. They wanted to save their as fast as they could so that they could buy thebefore someone else did.

We have been learning from Ephesians 1:13 that after you heard God’s Word and believed it you were ____________ with the ________________ of promise. Verse 14 tells us that the Holy Spirit is the earnest (down payment) of our inheritence until the redemption of the purchased possession.

Inheritance

You don’t collect the money from someone’s insurance until after they die.

The money you collect is called your _________________. The fourteenth word from the last of Ephesians 1:14. Who died for us? ______________________________
So we can now start to have our ________________________________________

Some things we get in our inheritance are ….

INHERITANCE We belong to God, God belongs to us.God becomes our father, we became God’s children.

I am sure I am forever saved because ……

It is impossible for God to lose the _______________________________ and it is impossible for God to lose the born again believer, since the believer is permanently sealed with the Holy Spirit.

Since the Holy Spirit Can Never Leave the believer once he or she has been sealed, the believer can grieve the Holy spirit by doing things that are wrong.

Grieve means to Cause Pain or Sorrow

Don't go to Church

Forget to pray
Don't read my Bible

God tells believers in Ephesians 4:30 "grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."

We have just studied that God The Holy Spirit SEALS every boy and girl the second that they RECEIVE the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.

Have you RECEIVED the Lord Jesus Christ as your SAVIOUR? Then you can say I KNOW I am saved RIGHT NOW because God The Holy Spirit SEALS my life and FOREVER says I BELONG TO GOD.

AS a letter is SEALED AND SENT OR MAILED

So God The Holy Spirit SEALS EVERY BELIEVER

Your Teacher will now hand out an envelope and a piece of paper to each person.

1.Take the paper and draw a picture of yourself and write your name under it.

2. Place the picture into the envelope IF you have RECEIVED the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour.

3. Seal the back flap of the envelope and write on the back:The Holy Spirit Of God SEALS me (name) _____________________ He makes me SAFE AND SECURE.

4. On the front of the envelope in the upper left hand corner write the NAME of the OWNER or WHO it is FROM

FROM THE OWNER

THE LIVING GOD 2 Cor.1:21,22
AT THE THRONE OF GRACE 2 Tim.1:9; Heb.4:16
IN THE THIRD HEAVEN 2 Cor.12:2

5. On the front of the envelope write where it is to be DELIVERED.

DELIVER TO

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST 2 Cor,5:8; Phil.1:21-24; John 14:23.
AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD Heb. 10:12; 12:2.
IN THE THIRD HEAVEN 2 Cor.12:2

6. Your teacher will give you a stamp to place in the upper right hand corner.

NOW take your letter and go over again the meaning of the word SEAL.

The Holy Spirit of God not only SEALS believers but He makes it possible for us to KNOW "that we are the _________________ OF GOD". Rom.8:16.

Why? Because "The Spirit Himself beareth witness with (what?) _____________ ______________". Beareth witness means that The Holy Spirit KNOWS believers belong to God and He confirms or proves to us that we ARE really God’s children because we have been born again.

God wants believers to have a wonderful relationship to Him as His children. Just as the Lord Jesus Christ alone in the garden said Abba _____ Father (Mark 14:36) so we are able to cry (WHAT?) ________ __________ Rom 8:15

Why? Gal.4:6 "Because ye ARE (what?) ___ ___ ___ ___.
God hath sent forth (who?) the ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ of His Son
(where?) into ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ crying
(what?) ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___."
What does Abba Father mean?

ABBA is used three (3) times in the New Testament, in Mark 14:36; Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6.

What word follows ABBA each time in the New Testament? ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
The Greek word for Father follows to help understand the word ABBA.

ABBA was a family word. It was used as a personal or proper name in the very day life of a family. Little children would call their father, ABBA.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE PICTURE HELOW?

How can you tell who Sally and Jack really belong to?

THE L ___ ___ ___ N ___ ___ ___ S ___ ___ ___ ___

Why is it wrong for Sally and Jack Smith to call Bill Jones their Father? Gen.21:2,3; Luke 1:13b,14. Because they were B ___ ___ ___ physically to John Smith, not to Bill Jones.

A boy or girl, any person, enters God’s FAMILY by being BORN ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ (John 3:3). Those that RECEIVE the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal SAVIOUR become THAT VERY SECOND " ___ ___ ___ ___ of God". John 1:12.

Two different Greek words are used to tell us about a believer’s relationship to God.

The First tells of having God’s LIFE because of our being BORN AGAIN. As found in John 1:12 "SONS"; Rom.8:16,17 "Children".

The second tells of having the honor, the HIGH POSITION (as a king’s son or daughter) and the character, the SAME KIND of LIFE that belongs to God, God’s life. As found in Rom.8:14 "sons"; Gal.4:6 "sons"; "son"; Gal.4.:7 "a son"; "a son".

Believers in the Old Testament and in the day when the Lord Jesus lived on earth did not talk to God and call Him my Father or our Father, in the same wonderful, personal way in which New Testament believers can today.

The Lord Jesus made it possible for a born again believer to share and enjoy His (Jesus) relationship to God. Mark 14:36.

The Holy Spirit of God makes it possible for believers to talk to God and call Him Father. Gal.4:6; Rom.8:15.

How many times is Abba Father used in the New Testament? _____

The Battle Of Assurance

The person who KNOWS the Lord Jesus Christ as his or her OWN saviour will find that their ASSURANCE (see page 2) can CHANGE and it can grow or increase.

Image179.gif (34820 bytes)

My ASSURANCE can be UP or DOWN, HIGH or LOW.
Can my SECURITY CHANGE? ______________ Why not? see page 2

Lets us look at some reasons why the believer's assurance can change.

  1. It can CHANGE because of CHOICE. He or she still has the RIGHT TO CHOOSE God’s way or his or her own way. Heb,11:25; Phil.1:22; see also page 23, 3. What about our will.
  2. It can CHANGE because of CONFLICT. The believer has 3 ENEMIES
  1. On the INSIDE the OLD SIN NATURE.
  2. On the OUTSIDE the WORLD SYSTEM.
  3. On the OUTSIDE SATAN AND HIS ARMY OF EVIL ANGELS

Let us look on the inside

They cannot be SEEN

or TOUCHED by other people on earth.

It can be SEEN and TOUCHED.

The believer has an OUTHER SHELL OR HOUSE made for time. 2 Cor.4:16; 5:1,2,6,8. The believer lives INSIDE his or her PHYSICAL BODY. The believer has a SOUL and a SPIRIT. 1 Thess. 5:23. The believer still has his or her OLD SIN NATURE.

Some Help On What The Words Mean.

EPH. 4:31

BITTERNESS = inner irritation of mind and heart, producing hard and harsh opinions of others.

WRATH = short lived outbursts of passion, tantrums, the hot retort, the strong emotions, hate and so forth out from the mind, as a flame leaping into the air, suddenly.

ANGER = a settled disposition of indignation, an angry outlook upon everything. The habit of mind, as the heat of the fire keeps on rising out from the fire.

CLAMOUR = is a loud outcry, bold assertion of supposed rights and grievances, to shout and scream at people.

EVIL SPEAKING = is blasphemy, abusive speech, whether directed against God or against man, gossip, maligning slander, to speak evil of.

ALL MALICE = badness, all kinds of evil coming out of a wicked mind, envy, jealously, an ill will, desire to injure.

GAL. 5:19

ADULTERY = unlawful, sexual intercourse outside the marriage relationship.

FORNICATION = voluntary sexual intercourse between an unmarried woman and an unmarried man.

UNCLEANNESS = unclean, impure, opposite of PURE, a general condition of an impure mind.

LASCIVIOUSNESS (La-siv’-i-as) = excess, absence of restraint, one who does what he wants, and says he can do what he wants and he or she doesn’t care what others think or say, or how bad or wrong it is to do.

GAL. 5:20

IDOLATRY = the worship of an image or an idol or the god represented by it. Rom.1:21-25.

WITCHCRAFT = here the use of drugs, potions, spells to trick and to harm, as poison to the body and poison to the mind; magic art.

HATRED = ENMITY, HATING, HOSTILE AS AN ENEMY; it is the opposite of love.

VARIANCE (Var’-i-ans) = strife, rivalry, quarreling, fighting, discord; it is the expression of hatred, the word, just before this one.

EMULATION (Em’-yoo-lâ’-shan) = ZEAL, here in a bad sense, Jealousy, "the unfriendly feeling or desire to have the same or the same sort or kind of thing for myself that someone else has or owns.

STRIFE = BAD AMBITIONS, LABOR for wages, the exercise of self-will is involved in the word, self-seeking, selfishness, taking sides for or against party leaders, rivalries.

Image182.gif (26043 bytes)

SEDITIONS (Si-dish’-ans) = a standing apart which speaks of divisions, stirring up resistance or rebellion, taking sides. The believer must be careful not to cause division and not to be part of division or those who cause division.

HERESIES (Her’-a-siz) = a choosing, that which is chosen. A chosen course of thought or action, an OPINION, especially a SELF-WILLED OPINION. The person’s chosen opinion is substituted for submission to God’s Word, the 66 Books of the Bible, as understood in the light of the CONTEXT, the GRAMMAR, the HISTORICAL SETTING, the MESSAGE of the BOOK and its CLEAR HARMONY with the 65 other books. The person’s self chosen opinion makes for:

  1. separation from others not of the same mind; at first mentally and possibly verbally and then physically in time.
  2. makes for sharing their false, untrue, unfounded view with others to gain support and approval.
  3. makes for sects or parties. The division leads to an established group called a sect.

Image183.gif (33256 bytes)

Image184.gif (15456 bytes)

4. RESULT: DIVISIONS, GROUPS, CULTS, ISMS

Sound Bible believing Testimony buried in among others, but it should be identified by its life, truth (God’s Word), light (transformed believers), etc.

NOTE:  A. God allows heresies in professing (people and churches who call themselves Christians) Christendom, even in local assemblies (churches) of believers, as in Corinth 1 Cor. 11:19. In order that God may make known those believers who stand for the TRUTH and who refuse to take any side but God’s only.

God is not the One who causes the divisions and trouble but God does allow it in His perfect wisdom to PROVE OR TEST His people, and to make known those who are not in HARMONY with him.

B. In 2 Peter 2:1 the word is used again telling us that those who teach heresies are FALSE TEACHERS and that their MESSAGE their MOTIVE and their MANNER are DAMNABLE or DESTRUCTIVE, leading to loss and ruin of a person’s WELL-BEING.

C. In Titus3:10,11 God instructs the local assembly what to do with such a person. "After the first and second admonition be rejecting (or AVOID; TO EXCUSE ONE’S SELF FROM, REFUSE, TO DECLINE RECEIVING THAT PERSON; it is a COMMAND, and it is in the present tense, meaning to continue such action until the person gets RIGHT with the LORD JESUS CHRIST).

"knowing that such a man (or woman) has been SUBVERTED (PERVERTED, TO BE TURNED INSIDE OUT OR CHANGED COMPLETELY) and sinneth (as a habit constantly) being condemned of himself (self-condemned)."

GAL. 5:21

ENVYINGS = is the feeling of displeasure produced by witnessing or hearing of the advantage or prosperity of others; used in a bad sense. Envy desires to take away that which belongs to someone else.

DRUNKENESS = to be drunk, too much strong drink. See Eph.5:1g. Adult Sunday School Class notes pages 24,25.

REVELLINGS = a feasting, merrymaking, old word also for DRINKING PARTIES; the thinking and acting that is the result of drinking; the condition that occurs while drinking and because of drinking; the action that goes hand in hand with drinking. GOD’S WORD considers ALCOHOLISI’I as a SIN for which the person is responsible and so ACCOUNTABLE to the living GOD. 1 Cor.6:10. ALCOHOLICS are MADE NOT BORN. IT IS SELF-INFLICTED by free choice and can lead to the place where the person is controlled by it. "One drink is too many and a hundred are not enough."

"AND SUCH LIKE" = and things like these." Representative list.

"DO SUCH THINGS" = as a habit; keep on practicing or doing such things and so tell what the person’s character (what he or she is like on the inside) is really like. Mark 7:18-23; Jer.17:9,10a; Heb.4:12,13

COL.3:5.

FORNICATION = UNLAWFUL SEXUAL INTERCOURSE. See Gal.5:19 UNCLEANNESS = IMPURITY. See Gal.5:19

INORDINATE AFFECTION = here passion whatever one suffers or experience, affection of the mind, morally bad, corrupt cravings, lust. Rom.1:16; 1 Thess.4:5.

EVIL CONCUPISCENCE (Kon-kü'-pa-s'ns) = to fix the desire upon (verb); an evil desire, longing, word includes all manner of lusts and desires. 1 Thess.4:5.

FILTHY CONMUNICATION = SHAMEFUL LANGUAGE, ABUSIVE SPEECH, Foulmouthed talk.

THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

GAL.5:22

BUT (in contrast to works of the flesh , and in opposition to the works of the flesh) the FRUIT. See page 28- Gal.5:17 note and following.

LOVE (A-gah'-pay) The Holy Spirit's word used in the New Testament making known God's love. "As used of God, it expresses the deep and constant love and interest of a perfect Being towards entirely unworthy objects, producing and fostering a reverential love IN THEM towards the GIVER, and a practical love towards those who are partakers of the same, and a desire to help others to seek the GIVER." W.E. Vine, under LOVE. THIS LOVE IS A DECISION OF FREE WILL. IT IS AN INTELLIGENT AND A DEDICATED CHOICE OUT OF A GRATEFUL HEART. IT IS PRODUCED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT (Rom.5:5) IN THE BORN AGAIN BELIEVER AND SHOWS ITSELF BY ITS SELF-DENYING AND COMPASSIONATE DEVOTION TO GOD AND HIS WORD. LOVE EXPRESSES ITSELF IN OBEDIENCE,- 1 John 5:2,3; John 14:21-24;15:9,10.

JOY = delight, gladness; Jesus made it possible to share His JOY with believers, John 15:11. The Holy Spirit produces this JOY, (1 Thess.1:6), even in troubles and testings (James 1:2), rejoicing with JOY unspeakable (1 Peter 1:8), until we see our Lord and SAVIOUR face to face (1 Peter 1:7,9).

PEACE = rest, to keep peace or to be at peace; because the believer has PEACE WITH GOD (Rom. 5:1) because of sins forgiven, he or she can enjoy the PEACE OF GOD because of being in fellowship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This PEACE OF MIND, or state of spiritual health (a present, right relationship to God, 1 John 1:9; Eph.5:18) comes from SUBMISSION to GOD and HIS WORD not STRIFE OVER OR ABOUT GOD'S WORD. The Holy Spirit produces this PEACE, this untroubled, undisturbed wellbeing. John 14:27 two times; John 16:23; Phil.4:7 etc.

LONGSUFFERING = long temper, "that quality of self-restraint in the face of provocation, (something that excites or stirs up action or feeling) which does not hastily retaliate or promptly punish; it is the opposite of anger." The believer who shows patience, forbearance to those who annoy, oppose, molest or treat him or her badly, without being angry or the thought of revenge. See 2 Peter 3:9.

GENTLENESS = goodness that shows itself in kindness, goodness in action, expressing itself in deeds; usefulness in kind acts toward others. God has made known His Goodness toward. the world. Rom.2:4; He will show His KINDNESS and GOODNESS toward us in the ages to come; He desires to show His goodness by the ministry of the Holy Spirit through us in time. Col.3:12.

GOODNESS = being good in a believer's character; the Holy Spirit producing in the believer the GOODNESS that belongs to God and was displayed by the Lord Jesus Christ in His cleansing of the temple Mt.21:12,13, and when He denounced woes upon the Scribes and Pharisees Mt.23:13-29. The believer ruled by and aiming at the outworking of God's goodness. The word seems to picture GOODNESS in its STERNER QUALITY where the word before gentleness shows it in its milder aspect as in Jesus dealing with repentant woman Luke 7:37-50. This GOODNESS expresses itself in its willingness to share or give unselfishly.

FAITH = FAITHFULNESS. The LOYALTY to God, the TRUSTFULNESS OF MIND, a firmly relying confidence in what we hear from God in HIS WORD , knowing and doing His WILL, being FIRMLY PERSUADED OF WHO HE IS and what HE HAS SAID. The Holy Spirit produces in the SURRENDED BELIEVER this relying confidence based on what HE knows is TRUE AND SURE of GOD'S PERSON and GOD'S WORD.

MEEKNESS = MEEK, GENTLE, describes a condition of mind and heart; it centers in God NOT SELF; "it is that temper of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good and therefore without disputing or resisting." "The Lord was meek because He had the infinite resources of God at His command", Mt.11:19.

TEMPERANCE = self-control in all things, having mastery or possession of, "the power to keep himself in check." The Grace by which the Flesh, the OLD NATURE and its works (God.5:19-21 etc.) are brought under CONTROL as the believer is CONTROLLED (Eph.5:18) by the Holy Spirit. The OLD SIN NATURE IS still there BUT IT NO MORE HAS TO RULE US, the believer can REMAIN FREE FROM ITS HOLD BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. DO NOT CONFUSE THE FREEDOM FROM ITS HOLD AT A GIVEN POINT IN TIME WITH THE OLD SIN NATURE'S PRESENCE, (1 John 1:8-10) in the believer; and the need for CONSTANT CLEANSING BECAUSE OF ITS PRESENCE while he or she walks with the Lord Jesus Christ on earth 1 John 1:7.

AGAINST SUCH THERE IS NO LAW = representative list only. See Gal.5:21 "and such like." These and such things fully meet the demands of the law.

1 Peter 2:11 - "abstain (hold back from, to keep yourself) from FLESHLY LUSTS, which _ _ _ against the soul."

Gal.5:17. The Holy Spirit in the believer is AGAINST the FLESH, The FLESH is AGAINST the Holy Spirit. The believer has the RIGHT to CHOOSE which side he (or she) will SERVE. (Rom.6:13,19,20-22)

IF HE CHOOSES GOD then he has the HOLY SPIRIT’S VICTORY

(Gal.5:18) and the HOLY SPIRIT'S FRUIT or LIFE. Gal.5:22,23.

IF HE (or SHE) chooses to please himself (or herself), to have his (or her) OWN WAY then he (or she) saddens, pains the Holy Spirit (Eph.4:30.) and the OLD SIN NATURE BEARS ITS FRUIT.

If you choose God what kind of FRUIT do people see?

If you choose to have your own way what kind of FRUIT do people see?

Can you share some time when you showed others GOD'S FRUIT? When you showed other SIN'S FRUIT?

OUR OLD SIN NATURE is a REAL ENEMY not a MAKE BELIEVE ONE.

What did the Apostle Paul think about his battle with his old sin nature? 1 Cor.9:26,27a.

Why? 1 Cor.9:27 (castaway, disapproved, failed the test, put on the shelf as a cracked pot in a woman's kitchen)

1 Cor.9:24,25 Can both teams win in a football game, baseball and, so on?

What happens to the prizes we win in this life?

The OLD SIN NATURE makes us UNFAITHFUL, DOUBTFUL, STOPS OUR GROWTH, ROBS US OF GOD'S PEACE, JOY. Can you think of what else it can ROB YOU OF?

How can we get back into FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD and have HIS FRUIT AND MUCH ASSURANCE? 1 John 1:8-2:2

OUR WEAPONS are not guns, bombs and such things? Why? 2 Cor.10:3,4,5.

GOD HAS GIVEN US VICTORY so that the believer can(1 Tim.6:12) "fight the __ __ __ __ fight of __ __ __ __ __ __ __ lay hold on __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __" The Holy Spirit of God wants us to have MUCH ASSURANCE, a GREAT CONFIDENCE in our GREAT GOD.

REMEMBER YOUR OLD SIN NATURE CAN KEEP YOU FROM HAVING ASSURANCE OF SALVATION AND FROM CLAIMING GOD'S PROMISES. DON'T LET IT.

Let us look on the outside

THE WORLD SYSTEM can rob a believer of his or her ASSURANCE OF SALVATION and/or claiming God's promises.

The World System people living, talking, walking, doing WITH out GOD. People SEPARATED FROM GOD. PEOPLE GOING AGAINST GOD.

DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.
BE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE.
SAY WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY.
THIS IS THE WAY WE DO IT.
WHAT DOES IT MATTER HOW YOU DO IT,
IF YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT.
LOOK AT OUR HOUSE, OUR CAR, BOAT
ETC. WE DIDN’T NEEUGOD.
LOOK AT MY JOB, MONEY, POSITION,
POWER, I DIDN’T NEED GOD.

LOOK AT THE FUN WE HAVE, THE PLACES WE GO,

WHO NEEDS GOD WHO WANTS HIM ALONG.

Come On And Join Us, Do It Our Way Not God’s.

The living, eternal, invisible and true God tells believers about their relationship to the WORLD SYSTEM:

1 John 2:15 " __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ ___ __ __ __ the world neither the __ __ __ __ __ __ that are IN the world." It does NOT mean you can LOVE a little and it is ALL RIGHT. It means NOT TO LOVE the world system IN ANY WAY, LITTLE OR MUCH.

In Matthew 6:24 we are told, "No man can serve — — — masters: for either he will — — — — the one, and — — — — the other, or else he will hold to (line up face to face) the one and despise (neglect, slight) the other. Ye CANNOT serve — — — and __ __ __ __ __ __ __ (wealth, riches, what is trusted in)

DRAW A LINE BETWEEN EACH PHRASE OF WHO GOD IS AND MAN’S SUBSTITUTE.

THE LIVING GOD THE LIFELESS_MAN

WHO is the CREATOR of man-- -- I don’t believe there is a Hell or a God who would

end me there.

Who is the SAVIOUR of man- We came from the chemicals of the sea, from

monkeys in a tree.

Who is the SUSTAINER or the --I am not a sinner; I am not so bad.

One who holds all things together

- and keeps them in the right order --

Who is the JUDGE of man --- --It is just that way, gravity and all those

laws of nature; no one knows.

1 John 2:16a "ALL THAT IS IN THE __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ "

LUST = EXCESSIVE, EVIL DESIRE

Image170.gif (52705 bytes)

1 John 2:16 "is — — — of the Father, but is OF the __ __ ___ ___ ___ __" The world system is the is the SOURCE (of), not the Father.

1 John 2:17 Don’t forget "the — — — — — Is passing away and the — — — — thereof: BUT he that doeth (not loveth, not just saying) the — — — — of — — — abideth forever."

God also tells us that not only believers should not love man’s world without God but that they should KNOW "that the — — — — — — — of the world is enmity (hating, hostile, an enemy) with — — ." James 4:4.

Let us read an "whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the what of God? God’s E __ __ __ __ __ __.

John 15:18,19. How did the Lord Jesus Christ say the WORLD would act towards born again believers?

Believers should not worry or think this hatred ‘is strange. Why? John l5:18b,19

What did the Lord Jesus Christ say the believer would have in the world? John 16:33

But the believer should be what?

Why?

In the Lord’s prayer (John 17 not Mt.6:9-15) Jesus prays (John 17:9) for believersor those who are not believers?

Jesus also knows what the unsaved think about His children John 17:14, and Jesus prays for them John 17:15.

First, that they should be taken out of the world or that they should remain for a little while in the world?

Second, that they (believers) should be kept from E __ __ __ or the evil one.

Believers are in the world but they should NOT be OF the WORLD. Turn to Romans 12:1,2. verse 2

REMEMBER THE GODLESS WORLD SYSTEM CAN ROB THE BORN AGAIN BELIEVER OF HIS OR HER ASSURANCE OF SALVATION AND GOD’S WONDERFUL PROMISES.

DON’T LET IT.

Let us look on the outside again

Satan or the Devil and his demons can cheat, trick, and cause a believer to doubt and miss his or her ASSURANCE OF SALVATION and/or claiming God’s promises.

God tells us in 1 JOHN 5:19 that "the whole world lieth (lies under the influence of) in wickedness" (or better, in the evil one)"

God allows Satan to controll the world system and to attack God’s people.

On the following page draw a line from Satan’s working to the right verse that tells about it.

An angel of light ACTS 5:3
He accuses or speaks against the believer Mt. 13:38,39
He hinders or seeks to stop the believer in doing God’s will. 2 Cor.11:14
He trys to make believers lie before men and to God. Rev.12:10
He sows tares (weeds that look LIKE wheat) among them. 1 Peter 5:8
He seeks us as a roaring lion. 1 Tim.4:1
He sends demons with false teaching
or doctrines of devils (demons, only one Devil, many demons)
Rev.3:9
He sends unsaved religious people
(synagogue of Satan) to confuse
and go in and out among God’s people.
1 Thess.2:18

REMEMBER SATAN AND DEMONS CAN CHEAT, TRICK AND CAUSE A BELIEVER TO DOUBT AND MISS HIS OR HER ASSURANCE OF SALVATION AND ALSO GOD’S SURE PROMISES.

DON’T LET HIM.

STAND UPON GOD’S WORD AND "WAR THE GOOD WAR FARE" 1 Tim.1:18.54
